Activities

The diverse terrestrial and marine habitats of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park ensure that visitors have a wide range of activities to embark upon when they come to the Park.

Game and bird viewing options include self-guided and guided walking trails or drives on the numerous trails and loop roads within the Park. Guided night drives in the Eastern Shores and uMkhuze provide an interesting insight into the nocturnal habits of iSimangaliso's wildlife.

Fishing has long been a favourite past-time for visitors to the Park, and options ranging from deep-sea fishing to surf and rock and fly-fishing continue to be popular.

For the more adventures, kayaking on Lake St Lucia or Lake Sibaya or a horse ride on St Lucia's beaches or on the Eastern Shores or False Bay are possible.

Scuba diving and snorkelling are excellent ways to experience the underwater world of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and watching turtles laying their eggs or hatchlings emerge from their nests between November and February every year is an incredible experience. Whale watching takes place from June to November every year.
